Friday - freaky weather and a few goodbyes

Today we set our English class a test to see what they have learned since we started. They did not like this. But then we played bingo, which they did. Got some lovely photos of them too.

This weekend Geraldine and some of the others are going to Siem Reap to see the Temples of Angkor, but I think I will need more than a day to really appreciate them so I am going once I have finished at the school and can really give them the time they deserve.

Therefore I have to mark all the exam papers.... so I am rushing out tomorrow to buy myself a RED PEN! I am actually quite excited about doing the marking because it will also show me what I have achieved, teaching wise. And because I get to use the red pen.) OH!! The power!
During our last class of the day the heavens opened. The rain was so loud that we could barely hear ourselves shouting as the school roof is metal and the rain was hammering down so hard! we had to wade through water above our ankles to leave the school (best not to think about what else must have been in there)

It had only rained for about 20 minutes! (these photos don't really show quite how ridiculous it was!)
Of course this had all dried up an hour later when we went out for dinner to have a goodbye dinner and drinks for Kristy and Olly, who sadly leave today, and who i shall miss as they were great fun, (and I was able to geek about Sci fi and Star Trek with Olly)

We went for pizza and cocktails at a great little place at the riverside, before heading back for the guest house where another party was underway. There was apparently much drinking of Black Panther and vodka to be done so we all applied ourselves to this task with a dedication that I had been sadly lacking on my trip so far. I realised that I hadn't got pissed since Dubai and hadn't smoked a cigarette for well over a week!. (This is not just because the cigarettes here taste pretty disgusting, I just haven't thought about it.... however after 4 or 5 cocktails and a substantial quantity of Vodka they seem to taste a lot better)

In this Picture are lots of people who live and work in the Guest house as well as the volunteers - there is always a general party every Friday where everyone sits down together which is great fun. Sometimes we are invited to share their tapas of tripe and chilli sauce too. Which is tastier than it sounds!
