Ko phan grrrrrrrrr

Well, after a long and arduous journey I am on Ko Phan ngan, sitting in a shed.
First, after an hour’s wait huddled with lots of wet back packers under an awning outside the travel agent's shop, there was an 8 hour bus ride to Chumpong, stopping inexplicably at 2am for food (the time you are least likely ever to want to eat unless it’s a kebab and you’ve been drinking solidly since 7pm).
Luckily it wasn’t raining when we got to Chompong as we had to sit on the beach until the “hi- speed catamaran” arrived an hour or so later. It actually wasn’t so bad watching the sunrise, over the beach however then we all trekked along this seemingly endless bamboo pier to the boat where we began another 4 hour journey, stopping at Ko Nang yuan, then Ko Tao (at which point it was PISSING it down, rain lashing at the windows, so I was glad to be carrying on to Phan gnan.
Couldn’t see anything out of the front of the boat for most of the journey it was raining so hard.

Anyway.  Arrived at the island having not managed to get through  to anyone who had rooms by phone and agreed to go to a place n the quieter west side of the island,  the brochure said wifi, private beach, clean ETC. However the bungalow is a shed, with a mosquito net, (i had a Wendy house which was a shed when i was little which i spent the night in, which was better constructed) with a dingy bathroom. And the wifi doesn't work because of "the humidity". It does have a hammock hanging on the porch though which is quite nice.

To be fair though, it's raining and no island paradise looks great if it's grey and dark.....the tide is out exposing broken dead coral, so also, not quite like the brochure, but it might improve.
They do however, hire bikes out.  Motor bikes though.  And as we are in the middle of no where I shall have  no choice but to learn to use one, hire one and find myself somewhere nice to stay very quickly!...  I shall do that first thing tomorrow.
It is raining again, so I shall content myself with a meal and then lying in my hammock listening to my lovely new ipod. J
