Just back from a 3 day "doof" in the Bush

So off we went in the car, having piled it completely full of everything one could possibly need to spend 3 days an hour from the nearest town/shop in a tent in a forest, where psi trance and techno play constantly so that you can dance whenever you like, but it's really really cold.

It was timed just right . We arrived before dark (we had to drive for 3 hours or more!) in time to put up the huge tent and then go to the supermarket to pick up food/booze) and were back in time for Don to get his Trance-pants on, so we could go and start dancing just after dark.

Don had made his own, hand stitching them mainly on his train journey to work apparently.  Here some other fine examples of the efforts people had made for the Doof.

Sterling efforts. even if the bare feet make them look completely insane.

Did I say it was cold before? You could see your breath all the time..

Actually got a good amount of sleep but was absolutley freezing as my feet had got wet....and had made the schoolboy error of trying to change (!!) before sleeping instead of getting in the sleeping bag in the warmish clothes you are wearing. So it was REALLLY COLD. Next day got up and borrowed Christines fabulous boots.... puddle proof to the extreme.

And here we are about 11 o clock all set to go and start dancing again. I am now wearing ALL my clothes (5 layers) and Kaghoul. + borrowed hat and gloves ...beginning to feel a little underdressed as despite all these layers, I am not wearing a blanket and/or pair of ridiculous trousers.  As you can see, everyone else had one or the other..... sometimes both.

There was also an art therapy section, as well as the usual chill out tent, and massage things, though people didn't leave it at that and created their own modern oevre's wherever they felt it was needed.

Lee tried to get a nice little peaceful sleep in the bush...

but sadly did not really make it far enough from the dancefloor...

meaning that people come up all the time, take their blanket back, and say... "come on Lee! dance!, you've had a whole half hour of sleep!"

The party continued all day, and

 .. all night again!

There were small doofers..

Father and son Doofers

Healthy doofers

Doofers celebrating their 50th Birthdays:

ANGRY DOOFERS whch you can read more about in Lee's blog here

and of course, the completely mad.

The second night was fancy dress..

Don kept the wine box as he felt that it finished the outfit with the level of gravitas and dignity it deserved. It was all very exciting.

After a brief sleep break, we went down and had one last dance until dawn had well and truly arrived before finally making off to bed to get to sleep before striking camp and driving home again.

Luckily the next day Don was full of beans having wisely chosen to sleep ih the warm clothes he had on the night before, and ready to cook bacon sarnies for everyone before we pitched camp, packed the car and went down to the dancefloor to say our goodbyes to all the people we'd met and a quick tired shuffle around to the still pounding music!

I also slept virtually all the way home, so it was really fantastic.

What a Terrific weekend!
